I’ve read hundreds of posts on this issue but its getting to the stage where I’d be replacing parts/sensors which may not really need replacing. I also tried a smoke test (albeit with a home made machine) but couldn’t see any obvious leaks. Inspected all air hoses and vacuum hoses, they all look fine. I had the hesitation problem before this and I’m 99% sure I got the timing spot on as it took me about 200 million tries to line up the cam gears with the crank properly. Timing belt and water pump which took me ages (first time doing anything like it). I ended up putting a new assembly in just in case the pump was drawing too much power. I pulled the fuel pump from inside the tank to inspect and the wire harness connecting onto the fuel pump itself was all burnt up and literally hanging by about 5 exposed wires… fixed that up quick smart. Wiggle tested the TPS, the harness was a little shoddy so I soldered in a new one, TPS has also been tested with another, made no difference. In the process of trying to inspect the IAC i snapped it :/ so replaced it, guess I ‘cleaned’ it. Spark plugs, wires & coils (i have the coil on plug type so I did the coils too) Here’s what I’ve done in the past 20,000kms or so (trying to alleviate the problem but also tuning up):

There is also an intermittent rough idle when I come to a stop, RPMS will bounce and car will start shaking like its going to stall – this only SEEMS to happen when engine is cold though (being intermittent who knows?). Its also stalled out on me a few times when going to accelerate, starts right back up though. I can replicate the problem every time if I just quickly tap / blip the throttle (only with A/C OFF – I’m assuming this is because the AC increases the load and idle speed).
